Is time to talk about Kyle Fletcher
Do what they don´t expect you to do
Who would have thought that one half of the most dynamic tag teams I have ever watched in Aussie Open would morph into one of the best heels in AEW (I would even say wrestling in general) with a change of presentation and a more interesting way of building his matches.
Listen, I love the dynamic style multiple wrestlers have around the world and I hate some people see them as less wrestlers, now about Fletcher he really needed something different to really get to a main event level, specially in AEW that is filled with legends in their prime with Omega or Mox for example.
Kyle find what would make him different really fast, using the old heel tricks in a way that I didn´t expect because some people try to use them and aren´t as effective as Kyle.
Fletcher is a big guy, he is really tall and was impressive watching someone that big pull off the crazy pace Aussie Open matches had but in the long run if he would have stayed as this nice babyface that can have a good to great match here and there believe me that I wouldn´t be writing about him
He is already building really interesting feuds just by his in ring, his matches vs Mark Briscoe (His best dance partner at the moment) hasn´t had a lot of promo time in TV (Where it matters) instead it has been in social media and even if you haven´t watch the one minute promo in twitter you can see the match with just a bit of context and you are in, Fletcher wanted to avenge his loss as well to humiliate Mark Briscoe, the man that beat him in the C2 and made him face Ospreay in the Semis.
Mark Briscoe been one of the best babyfaces in wrestling is able to mix so well with Kyle, the fire and passion Briscoe brings in that ring make this match click, add a hot crowd that is screaming and dying for Mark and you have one of the best matches of 2025.
The basics still work, but to get the basics to work at this level you need special wrestlers to execute it. Fantastic match. Fantastic TV main event.
What´s next?
Fletcher will go to his hometown Australia and have a tag match with Konosuke Takeshita facing Kenny Omega and Will Ospreay, a match I´m really excited because I expect a great heel performance from him. Omega is the top babyface in AEW, I could even say that a strong performance in this tag match could change the plans Tony Khan has in mind for the rest of the year, or at least I´m hopeful on that.
Other thing it would help is a better entrance song for him because is really midcard-ish, is basically just a lot of sound without anything memorable.
