Ricky Starks vs Chris Jericho with the JAS Banned from Ringside (***1/2) Very good opener and great booking, Starks blocking the Judas Effect such a great idea and Chris Jericho put him over clean. I´m ready to see Starks vs Hobbs but now for the TNT Championship.

Jack Perry vs Christian Cage in a Final Burial match (****1/4) This was perfect, I had my doubts because of the stip but they made it work. Christian Cage is GREAT and Jack Perry is 2/2 in delivering in big spots in PPV.

The Elite vs House Of Black for the AEW Trios Championships (****1/2) What I said in the preview, I expected greatness and we got that in this match. Omega vs Malakai for the IWGP in Kenny´s hometown Winnipeg is such a layup booking wise. The Elite are the best stable of this century.

Jamie Hayter vs Ruby Soho vs Saraya for the AEW Women´s World Championship (***1/4) Very solid match, I had very low expectation on this one but they did well. The post match angle actually worked really well and was a good swerve.

Hangman Adam Page vs Jon Moxley in a Texas Death match (*****) One of the best matches I´ve ever seen and I went full five inmediately, the MOTY for me and the rehab of Hangman I would say is complete, it just needs the AEW World Championship on his waist. A classic on par with Triple H vs Cactus Jack from the 2000 Royal Rumble. The Hangman… FUCKING HANGS!!!!!!

Samoa Joe vs Wardlow for the TNT Championship (NR) I didn´t watched the match because I had to take a walk after the Texas Death match. Wardlow will have the shortest TNT Championship reign of all time because Hobbs is ready and I can already see Hobbs vs Starks as the TNT Championship match in Double Or Nothing.

The Gunns vs Jay Lethal & Jeff Jarrett vs Danhausen & Orange Cassidy vs The Acclaimed for the AEW World Tag Team Championships (***) Crowd pleaser midcard fun. I would prefer better workrate because I want to fill my notebook/excel but this was good.

MJF vs Bryan Danielson in a 60 Minute Iron Man match for the AEW World Championship (*****) I really loved this match, I understand the people that didn´t liked the first 15–20 minutes of the match but for me was laying the groundwork as well for some fun interactions like Bryan doing jumpjacks. I was in the edge of my seat at minute 65 just a masterpiece from the GOAT and a young guy who when he wants is a diferencial talent.

General Thoughts

I think the show, the results were perfectly booked. The build for like 60% of the card was cold, the only real hot build up was Mox vs Hangman and they heated a lot this last few weeks Starks vs Jericho, Christian vs Jack Perry and MJF vs Bryan. With three babyfaces winning and bookending their feuds or at least their singles feud (I think Hangman will feud vs BCC not only Mox). AEW has a clean slate to start some new programs and that is great to see, really excited to watch Dynamite and see what will be the new feuds as well of certain follow ups, a opportunity of really start again and bring new things to the show. I want to see more focus on The Elite as well of getting Hook and Jade Cargill (Better a match vs Hayter than a mini feud vs the third baddie) out of their bubble and interact with the top of the card.

Rating of the show: 9.5/10

Extra Notes

  • Christian Cage is such a fucking beast, after some weeks off to sell the burial he should feud vs another young babyface.
  • Bryan Danielson is maybe the best wrestler I´ve ever seen.
  • Giving five stars to two matches in one show is insane, and this show did it.
  • I want to see Jack Perry vs MJF, Jack is ready for another World Championship program.
  • There´s a lot of potential great storylines in AEW, hopefully Khan capitalizes on them.
