Biased Thoughts: AEW Dynamite All In Go Home Episode
Gas South Arena, Duluth. Georgia. 5,3k Tickets Sold. August 23rd 2023
The Elite vs Juice Robinson & The Gunns (NR) This match was a no contest because it was a CRAZY brawl where a lot of people shined and to heat up the matches more. Takeshita vs Omega I think will be for All Out.
Jon Moxley vs Rey Fénix (****) This was a phenomenal match and as well of a phenomenal angle after the match. Fucking Visas man but I think the match will be spectacular.
More build for MJF and Cole, as a trend in this feud, a lot of their shit is good and is over when isn´t shit like the pretapes they do, this was good and added even more intrigue to the storyline. This are two alpha dogs, this friendship feels that is about to explode. Really good stuff.
Chris Jericho and Will Ospreay delivered a fantastic contract signing for their match, this feels hot and finally something feels big and totally heated. A big win in my opinion.
Nick Wayne & Darby Allin vs Swerve Strickland & AR Fox (***1/2) Well, here we go. This match was good but the things that happened after the match were some of the worst booking AEW has done, a complete sabotage of the second most compelling storyline in Dynamite that was having really good angles and matches (Again, Swerve Strickland having an awesome undercard feud) but they for external reasons(?) fucked the go home angle so badly that the storyline is ruined. Completely baffling decisions made that not only fucked up the main compelling things in the story but make all of the involved incredibly stupid. Even Christian Cage and his greatness didn´t completely erased the sourness this post match angle left in me. I bet the match and interactions will be awesome but shit this is the type of things that makes you think Khan and the “creative team” might have lost their fast ball because shit, this was dumb and short sighted because they could have milked a lot of matches out of this four.
Ruby Soho vs Skye Blue (**1/4) The match existed and Skye Blue isn´t consistent as well that Ruby isn´t an all timer worker to carry someone. The match existed.
At this point I said: “Fuck, the hole again in the second hour” BUT a surprising thing happened
Aussie Open vs The Hardy´s (***1/4) I won´t praise The Hardy´s because they can´t move well and they look rough, all the credit for the carryjob is for the Aussies, yeah, is just a 3.25 asterisks match but in big 2023 having a good match vs The Hardy´s? Just the best teams in the planet can pull it off. Then the real thing happened with Better Than You Bay Bay in the post match with a really well booked brawl between the two teams and with the final shot of MJF been almost hit with a kick to the face by Adam Cole adding even more tension for the two matches they will have in Wembley. Amazing!
Rating of the Show: 8/10
Best Go Home episode I´ve see them do. It would have been higher but all the Fox/Swerve/Darby storyline was destroyed and the women´s match was just the most meh thing that it starts to get me annoyed with certain performers. Home Run money angles with the opener with The Elite and Bullet Club Gold, Ospreay and Jericho delivering in the mic and the main event with all the teaing of betrayal. Great show, I´m REALLY excited for All In and can´t wait for the show to start. Historical moment for AEW and profesional wrestling. My favorites in front of the biggest crowd of all time, I might get sentimental watching the show.
Extra Notes:
- Over 80k people in a stadium for an AEW show, just terrific.
- Takeshita hasn´t been handled well but this interactions with Omega are met with overness in the buildings, Take is money.
- Kingston, Moxley and Kingston trifecta are gonna fill my “Best Matches Of The Year” excel. Amazing work by all three not only in the in ring but in promos too.
- They really need real profesionals and a big machine structure and no longer give a paycheck to people who clearly aren´t capable or are simply overworked.
