The Jericho Appreciation Society opens the show celebrating Jericho´s ROH World Championship win, and listen guys I was entertained, Daniel García looked confortable with the mic and the segment had some fun and really compelling moments. The match I want to see is Daniel García vs Sammy Guevara hopefully we get it soon.
Bryan Danielson vs Matt Menard (**3/4) Fun little match.
Wheeler Yuta interrupts the scheduled MJF segment and boy, Yuta really held his own in the promo exchange vs the prick. GREAT stuff.
Jon Moxley vs Juice Robinson in an Eliminator´s Match to get a shot for the AEW World Championship (***3/4) Good match between this two, not at the level of their matches in Japan. The post match was excelent building the top two matches for this few weeks, Hangman facing off Jon Moxley without any fear and Wheeler Yuta beating the shit out of MJF. The segments have been tremendous.
Saraya´s promo introducing herself, almost all the babyface women´s locker room getting in the ring with her, Britt Baker interrupts with some of the heel women´s locker room. The segment was bad, the crowd really likes Jamie Hayter and they set up a… Lumberjack stipulation for the Championship match…
Toni Storm vs Serena Deeb in a Lumberjack match for the Interim AEW Women´s World Championship (***1/2) The lumberjack stipulation was to set up a match between Jamie Hayter and Willow Nightingale and a multi tag match at some point. The match was good but the crowd is not as hot as previous shows unless there´s an angle. I loved the finish with the Super Piledriver.
The Acclaimed are the definition of entertaining, Ricky Starks easy to keep his momentum going. GOOD.
Chris Jericho vs Bandido for the ROH World Championship (****) Old man Jericho does it again but if we are real about this, Bandido was given spaces to shine and he for sure delivered. Super hard hitting match with impressive spots and unitentional blood that looked awesome.
Rating of the show: 7.5/10
Extra Notes:
- Hangman Page vs Jon Moxley will be great, but I need a promo and a tag match to heat it up a bit more.
- MJF is a master of this shit, he deserves the money Khan is paying him and even more. Not only been always a home run in promo but always setting up exciting feuds and matches, in this case Wheeler Yuta that has been capable of delivering in their segments.
- Daniel García has been doing some great work and his story been one of the main storylines in AEW is great.
- Tony Khan wanted to experiment a different format to give the women´s more time after having a trend of good ratings and boy... An overlong segment with awkward moments that added an uninteresting stipulation in a match that didn´t needed it. The crowd clearly wants Jamie Hayter to be important something that have been building for a while so that´s good. I will give him the credit that it set up a lot of stuff but yeah the experiment didn´t worked.
- A lot of times the fans want to see the storylines of the young originals over some big name imports and I think Khan has seen that. The next step is putting the focus on the Hayter storyline, let her be the main character of the division.
