Biased Thoughts: AEW Dynamite #153
2 Hours. +5,300 Tickets Sold. September 7th 2022
The New Beginning in Buffalo
I don´t think you want to read even more about the drama but is important information that CM Punk, Kenny Omega and The Young Bucks were stripped off their Championship belts and suspended for a fight that is still been under investigation after the media scrum of All Out.
The show started with a tremendous segment with MJF and Mox, Maxwell restablishing himself as the main heel he is and Mox talking as the real ace of AEW, Great stuff.
Triángulo de la Muerte vs Best Friends for the Trios Championships (****) Triángulo de la Muerte and Best Friends are two of the acts that are always over even when they are not pushed. Best Friends deserve a big win at some point and when it happens it will be great.
Toni Storm vs Penelope Ford in an Eliminator´s Match to get a shot for the Interim AEW Women´s World Championship (***) Really solid match, Penelope Ford has been solid for a while and Storm did really good here. The crowd was into it. Good
The Acclaimed enters the ring and as Max Caster was about to start his rap when Swerve Strickland´s theme started something that got huge boos from the crowd. The way The Acclaimed is over I don´t think anyone expected it and is great to see a talent that you watched from Dark as jobbers progress to get to this level. Can´t wait for The Acclaimed vs Swerve/Lee II at Arthur Ashe.
Wardlow vs Tony Nese for the TNT Championhip (No Rating) An squash to start to heat up Wardlow again, this is important. Hopefully he has a real feud soon, I would put him in the Starks vs Hobbs feud.
Hangman Page vs Bryan Danielson in the First Round of the Grand Slam Tournament of Champions (****1/4) This is one of the best in ring rivalries of AEW and wrestling in general, stupid levels of chemistry with tremendous kickouts, exchanges and counters. Hangman and Danielson are 1–1–1 overall, I wouldn´t mind a 2 out of 3 falls match in the future.
The Stokely Hathaway Family is a really bizarre stable to say the least.
Wheeler Yuta vs Daniel García for the ROH Pure Championship (****) Generational foes, this young guys delivered in ring and in the post match. Storytelling has been done here for a while with the moving pieces approaching a point of no return. Does Daniel García leave Jericho and the JAS for his childhood hero and an all stars team?
Rating of the show: 8/10
Extra Notes:
- I think there´s a booming period coming for AEW, and I think will be for the almost obligatory push of new acts and acts that haven´t been heavily pushed for a while. Freshness, new stars and new main eventers are the way to go!
- AEW has an stupid amount of top wrestlers at his dispossal.
- Hangman Page road to redemption will start soon.
- I don´t really know why they are still using the MJF-WWE plotpoint, but the other stuff was great.
- Jon Moxley is AEW´s Tanahashi, he´s THE GUY.
- Eventhough the ROH belts have had great use in AEW (FTR, Claudio defenses and Yuta vs García feud) I think it blocks them to use Samoa Joe and Claudio Castagnoli at their full potential because they have to be protected, I would really want to see them in a feud vs Hangman Page.
