Biased Thoughts: AEW Dynamite #151
2 Hours. 4,591 Tickets Sold. August 24th 2022
What a huge gamble Khan made in this show not only for the way Punk vs Mox was executed but also with the way the card was built. Starting the show with an storyline focused on Daniel García a talent more known for his in ring work than any other thing and actually not only been a great segment but having a great promo is a home run.
After García´s segment Jay Lethal and Dax (***1/2) had a very solid match but the main topic out of all this feud between Wardlow & FTR with Lethal, Dutt and Sing is that the big trios match won´t have Satnam nor Dutt but will have a huge upgrade on the form of the Motor City Machine Guns.
Kilynn King vs Britt Baker (**3/4), King is really solid and AEW should sign her, the new champion I think it should be between Shida or Hayter but the logic is between Storm or Baker so in that case I would give the belt to Storm and start the feud between Hayter and Baker because I think that division needs a feud like that.
Austin Gunn vs Billy Gunn (**1/2), all this feud is so stupid and so over with the crowd that is hilarious but The Acclaimed and The Gunn Club have done a really great job. This match had his moments but went too long, good that Austin Gunn won. Really interesting too see if Khan gives the tag belts to The Acclaimed because they are the most showcased team in Dynamite, the main show. Also ¡¡¡Scissor Me Daddy Ass!!!
CM Punk vs Jon Moxley for the Undisputed AEW World Championship (BEAST), my thoughts on this match have a lot of shit that might enter into fantasy booking territory and I don´t want to waste your time too much so basically this match was a shocker and I really liked it, maybe Punk´s not a 100% heel but the last few weeks wether in his in ring promos or in the media he has been kind of a prick so watching this egotistical asshole (In Storyline) been destroyed by the fighting champion was a great experience.
The Heart and the Soul beat the ““Dollars & The Cents”” eventhough Hangman Page as Champion sold more tickets for his matches than the “Dollars and The Cents” guy with lower profile opponents like Lance Archer (1,461) or Konosuke Takeshita (945). Mox vs Punk sold 745 tickets. (Source: WrestleTix)
Ricky Starks with another great promo, Joe Lanza from Voices Of Wrestling mentioned in VoW´s discord that Starks has signed a new deal with AEW so they will strap him to the moon and I couldn´t be happier.
United Empire vs Triángulo de la Muerte in the Quarterfinals of the Trios Tournament (****1/2), I wanted flippy shit and I got it, if you expected something more than flippy greatness that´s on you brother, just tremendous stuff by all the people involved. PWG with more stakes and bigger crowds is peak wrestling lads.
Extra Notes:
- Keep an eye on Takeshita´s ticket sales for his high profile matches if you are interested in that type stuff, dude has been having good trends not only in tickets sales but in merch sells too.
- If you want to track ticket sales I strongly recommend WrestleTix´s Patreon, is great.
- I don´t hate Punk, I love his work and I think he´s one of the all time greats. Is more the people that have been downplaying other´s importance and drawing power, specifically Hangman´s.
- This might be a weekly thing, maybe not but I will keep writing my monthly AEW/ROH reports in spanish.
